My favorite (light) K-dramas of 2015

And December it is!
To kind of wrap up this busy year, I will list my top favorite Korean Dramas for 2015!
2015 has been a scary roller coaster ride, K-pop and K-drama wise.

Comeback after comeback.
Debut after debut.
Drama after drama.
It was really hard to keep up with everything going on.
There were some really really powerful dramas like D-day and The Village: Achiara's Secret...

This list, however, contains somewhat light dramas that, although there was space for improvement, I enjoyed nonetheless.

1. Healer

Synopsis: What can an event that happened decades ago have to do with three people who seemingly have nothing in common? Kim Moon Ho (Yoo Ji Tae) is a popular broadcast reporter for a major news organization. Chae Young Shin (Park Min Young) is a reporter for a second-rate tabloid news website. Seo Jung Hoo (Ji Chang Wook) is a mysterious errand boy known by the codename “Healer.” When these three people are brought together, they go on an unusual journey to discover what happened years ago when a group of friends operated an illegal broadcasting station, and they try to help the people affected by the event. Can their quest to learn the truth about the past somehow help them to discover their future fates? watch here

Thoughts: Hands down to favorite Korean Drama ever. From the Ji Chang Wook to Park Min Young to Ajhumma to the amazing OST, this drama was a masterpiece.

2. Kill Me Heal Me

Synopsis: A traumatic childhood experience causes third-generation chaebol Cha Do-hyun to have memory lapses, and his personality fractures into seven different identities. He tries to regain control over his life and is treated secretly by Oh Ri-jin, a first-year psychiatry resident, who eventually falls in love with him.

Thoughts: Basically, the story here hit home. The acting was incredible and so was the casting <3 This is definitely on my re-watch list!

3. She Was Pretty

Synopsis: A romantic comedy about two past acquaintances who meet again after they've gone through a reversal of fortunes and appearances, set in the backdrop of a fashion magazine's publishing office.
Kim Hye-jin was a very pretty girl from a rich family. After her family's publishing company went bankrupt, she experienced hardships then lost her beauty too. Ji Sung-joon was an unattractive boy with low self-esteem, but grows up as a handsome and successful editor.
The two decided to meet again as adults, but Sung-joon was unable to recognize Hye-jin. Ashamed to meet her first love and ruin his perception of her, Hye-jin asks her attractive best friend, Ha-ri, to appear in her place. Things, however, soon get complicated as Hye-jin was assigned to work at The Most magazine publishing office where Sung-joon is the deputy chief editor. He openly mistreats and belittles her for her clumsy nature, not knowing that she was his real childhood friend. Ha-ri also continues to meet Sung-joon, and soon develops feelings for him. On the other hand, Hye-jin finds a good friend in her workplace, Shin-hyuk, who slowly falls in love with her. watch here

Thoughts: Second lead syndrome strong. Like really strong <3 Siwon became my favorite drama character ever after this. If you were disappointed with the

4. Angry Mom

SynopsisWhen Jo Gang-Ja attended high school, she was notorious for fighting. She gave birth to her daughter A-Ran (Kim You-Jung) in her late teens and became more responsible. Her daughter A-Ran is now a high school student, but A-Ran is bullied at school. Jo Gang-Ja decides to go back to high school to protect her daughter. Jo Gang-Ja becomes a high school student again. watch here

Thoughts: This drama completely surprised me. Like totally. I expected a light, fun, high-school oriented drama but oh, how wrong I was. I've always heard about the extreme bullying in Korea but never gave it a second thought because of the lack of media about it. This drama is intense. It touches everything many Korean students go through and face in Korea. Although there's always the comedy everyone enjoys, this drama is not for everyone. I was on a roller coaster of emotions because of this but it was absolutely worth it.

5. My Eccentric Daughter-in-law

Synopsis: The plot features a former idol who dreams of a comeback who goes on a "daughter-in-law experiment" program where she's pitted against a fake mother-in-law from one of those long-standing traditional family clans. As they clash, fight, and reconcile, they'll realize the true meaning of family. watch here

Thoughts: DASOM-AH~!!! <333 A very cute filler drama.

6. School 2015

Synopsis: Set at a prestigious private high school in Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea. Eun-Byeol is a popular student at the private high school. She goes missing and returns, but she has lost her memory. She tries to find out the truth. watch here

Thoughts: This drama went from 100 to 0 real quick with the second male lead syndrome for me. If it wasn't for the ending, I'm sure it would've made it to my top 10 list.

7. Reply 1988

Synopsis: Set in the year 1988 at a neighborhood in Seoul, South Korea. Five families live on the same alley road. watch here (on-going)

Thoughts: Although this drama is still on-going at the moment, it has captured my fangirl heart from episode 1. I got to admit that I wasn't at all thrilled when I heard that Hyeri was going to be the female lead. Now, I have no problem with Hyeri or Girl's Day, As Reply series worshiper, I am so grateful they kept the parents <3

8. Oh My Ghost

Synopsis: Na Bong-Sun (Park Bo-Young) works as an assistant chef. Because of her timid personality and low self-esteem, she doesn't have any friends. Since she was a child, she has been able to ghosts because of her shaman grandmother. One day, she becomes possessed by seductress ghost Shin Soon-Ae. Kang Sun-Woo (Cho Jung-Seok) is a star chef. Na Bong-Sun has a secret crush on him. He is good looking and confident as a chef. Even though he is popular with women, he has yet to get over his ex-girlfriend. He begins to notice Na Bong-Sun after her sudden change. watch here
Thoughts: It's one of the dramas thats characters really grow on you. I got so used to the restaurant and team. I was on a strict diet while watching it so I appreciated them keeping the food porn low-key.

9. Oh My Venus

Synopsis: Kim Young-Ho (So Ji-Sub) is a personal trainer for Hollywood stars. Even though he comes from a wealthy family background, he suffered a devastating injury during his childhood days. Now, he overcomes his problems with patience and stubbornness. Kang Joo-Eun (Shin Min-A) is 33-ears-old lawyer. She has struggled to support her family. Now, Kang Joo-Eun is overweight and not so attractive. watch here (on-going)
Thoughts: This really makes me want to fall in love with a fitness trainer. ::>.<:: You'd think it'll turn out like Birth Of a Beauty with the fat-shaming and all, but oh-man.. I'm so glad and grateful it isn't. Unlike in Master's Sun, Ji Sub is actually very sweet <3 I have only seen one other drama for Jung Gyu-Woon -Birth of a beauty- and he was a boyfriend/husband that cheats on his fat girlfriend/wife in both.

10. High Society

Synopsis: Jang Yoon-Ha is the youngest daughter of a chaebol (family owned conglomeration). Even though her family is extremely wealthy, she holds a part-time job at a food market. She hides her background as an heiress and attempts to find a man that loves her for herself. watch here

Thoughts: Can we just talk about Uee's character in this drama! Sure, she had her dumb moments but damn girl... I admit that I'm a huge sucker for villain-as-male-lead and strong-rich-female-lead dramas and I think that the writer did a wonderful job here. I'm also quite impressed with the cast; idol dramas are usually fluffy, high school dramas....

11. The Girl Who Sees Smells

Synopsis: 3 years ago, a man lost his younger sister in the "Bar Code" murder case. Since then he has lost his senses. A girl miraculously survived the "Bar code" murder case. Since then, she has lost her memory, but also has gained the ability to see smells. watch here

Thoughts: This drama was super cute! The chemistry was unmistakable. However, there were... many many incidents where this drama lacked logic...bad. I still think it was cute nonetheless :)

With my list aside, are there any dramas you enjoyed that maybe aren't on this list?
